WORCESTER Nomads' first team friendly against Broadway proved a run-feast, with 650 runs in 80 overs, three centuries and a 98.

It included a fine maiden century for Nomads by 16-year-old Malvern College student Blake Raymond, finishing unbeaten on 119.

Malcolm Jones continued his good form with 122 and the pair put on 244 for the fourth wicket in only 25 overs to help Nomads to 305-5, a stunning reply to a Broadway total of 345-7.

Chris Close (100) and Broadway's Pakistani professional Ashraf (98) were the main beneficiaries of Nomads fielding with only 10 men. Darren Lakin plugged away for 20 overs up the slope to keep the visitors in check and finished with 3-134.

Nomads seconds visited the pleasant surroundings of Elmley Castle, but spent a frustrating and luckless afternoon in the field.

Elmley won the toss and elected to bat, and capitalised on a very pacy outfield through Walker (63), Rollett (52) and Eaton (52 retired hurt).

Nomads' young side fought back with Dave Pearson and Joe Andrews taking two wickets apiece, and excellent spells from youngsters Adam Grove and Cameron Pimlow helped restrict the home side to 231-6.

The home side were strong in bowling as well. Dean Spiers made 26 before Elmley blew the middle order away through a fine spell from Monk (2-6 from eight overs). Pip Sirrell and skipper Dave Pearson were resolute to steer Nomads to 134-5, finishing unbeaten on 27 and 42 respectively.

n Kempsey recovered from a poor start to beat Crowle by 52 runs.

Kempsey soon slipped to 36-4, Bendall taking 3-17, but a stand of 95 between Steve Robbins (70no) and Andy Bradshaw (38) took them to 164-6 in their 40 overs.

Youngsters Andy Newcombe (2-19) and Tom Waters (3-32) decimated Crowle's middle order. Ian Hope carried his bat for 53no and Rob Sadler (17) and Andy Hawes (13) tried hard to keep Crowle alive but Dave Rhodes (4-21) finished off the innings for 112.
