BIG-HEARTED villagers have clubbed together to donate more than £2,000 to a children's hospital - as well as paying for a medical scanner to benefit Wyre Forest.
Alan Hubball, of Dowles Road, Bewdley, organised the effort by Arley residents from the end of last year in aid of the cancer and heart units of Birmingham Children's Hospital. Events included the "full monty" on New Year's eve. Sister Catherine Brown with Alan Hubball. In the back row are fund-raiser Rick Lloyd and Stourbridge staff Helen Homer, Sharon Porter, Caroline Heath, Beverley James and Heather Edwards.
"I do most of my socialising at the New Inn and the Harbour Inn and this money is down to the help of all the customers and staff of both pubs," said Mr Hubball, 48, who was one of the strippers.
He also grew, dyed and then shaved his hair to help raise more than £300 - handed over on Friday - for a medical scanner.
District nurse Heather Edwards, who is based at the Worcester Street Practice in Stourbridge and has patients in Wyre Forest, said: "It's an essential piece of equipment - previously people would have had to go to their doctor's surgery or hospital."
