PARISH COUNCIL: At the monthly meeting the Chairman, Mr Derrick Grainger, spoke of the importance of securing the site to the east of the Village Hall. He said that in order to prevent vandalism in that area it was important to erect fencing, but before that, work had to be done on the trees there. He said that they had been inspected and that work could be done immediately to deal with unsafe or overgrown material.
On matters relating to the Play Area, Mr Terry Onions said that new chains for the junior swings were on order. The chairman thanked Mr Michael Pullin for removing the old roundabout. He said that the fences were on site and would soon have put the finishing touches to the project.
SAVE THE CHILDREN: have two dates for your diary. On Saturday, July 6, from 2pm to 5pm there will be a Strawberry Tea at Home Farm, Tredington. There will be country dancing by the pupils of Tredington Primary School and a wide variety of stalls.
Something quite different will be the evening of live jazz and silent films also at Home Farm Tredington. This is a fun evening when you can see Chaplin's 'Shoulder Arms' and Lupino Lane's 'Howdy Duke' whilst listening to the jazz of the Rod Kelly trio. During the interval, tables and chairs will be provided so that you can enjoy your picnic supper with your friends; bring your own candelabra! All this will happen of Friday, July 19, at 7.30pm. For further details and tickets ring 01684 772482.
JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS: at Bredon Marina were a huge success, thanks to the hard work and inspiration of Meg Hanton. Over the course of the day as many as 600 people came and went. The local WI served teas, a live band played at intervals and the pig roast was so popular that it sold out. Whilst this event was not planned as a fund-raiser, in fact £2,500 was made, which will be divided between Cancer Research and the new Children's Play Area. Congratulations to all concerned.
