EVESHAM swimmers did themselves, and their club, proud when 17 members attended Stourbridge's first Annual B Grade Meet at Wolverhampton.

Both heats and finals were contested and there were many finalists representing the club, all of whom received trophies while many personal best times were achieved.

In the ten-year girls age group, the freestyle event saw Colleen Penrose swim to seventh place overall which she repeated in the final.

She also managed seventh in the backstroke and bettered this with fourth in the final.

Sofia Mayhew touched second and Elizabeth Hinsley fourth, before managing to achieve runner-up position in the final.

The ten-year breaststroke event saw Penrose swim to first place in both the heats and the final, picking up a crystal goblet for her efforts.

There were some outstanding swims from several other ten- year girls with Elizabeth achieving tenth in the freestyle. Cara McPherson was 14th in the freestyle, ninth in the backstroke and 12th in the breaststroke.

Mayhew also swam to 15th in the freestyle, Louise Schoen-rock did well to achieve 24th in the freestyle and 11th in the backstroke, while ten-year-old Luke Pallett swam some excellent personal best swims resulting in three final spots in which he ultimately achieved eighth in the breaststroke, sixth in the freestyle and fifth in the backstroke.

Two 11-year-old girls made the backstroke final with Clem-ence Rich achieving top spot and the crystal goblet and Sop-hie Dagnall seventh position and a trophy. She then went on to reach the freestyle final and achieved fourth place overall with a superb pb.

The butterfly final saw Rich touch third and Justine Bennett second. The latter also achieved 19th in the breaststroke and ninth in the freestyle.

Dagnall also swam to 16th place in the butterfly and 12th in the breaststroke.

The 10/11-year-old individual medley saw Dagnall feature in eighth place, Bennett tenth and ten-year-old Hinsley 26th.

Eleven-year-old Matthew Phillips enjoyed seventh place in the backstroke final and Callum Tustin was eighth place. Phillips also picked up a seventh place trophy in the butterfly final and Ramsay Evans achieved fourth place. He also swam to sixth in the freestyle final.

Tustin was 12th in the freestyle but Matthew Shepherd just missed out on the breaststroke final after touching ninth. Both Evans and Tustin both achieved "speeding tickets" for their breaststroke sprints.

The 10/11-year-old boys individual medley saw Evans take bronze.

Christie Foxall swam a great freestyle race to achieve 12th position, 11th in the breaststroke and 15th in the backstroke in the 12-year old girls' category.

Joe Sinclair also swam well for a creditable 12th place in the breaststroke for the 12-year-old boys.

The 13-year-old girls again featured in the finals with Amandine Rich achieving sixth place in the butterfly event and seventh in the backstroke.

Katie Scott swam well to make the final in the backstroke and was ultimately placed fifth and awarded a trophy.

She also achieved ninth in the freestyle and a similar finish in the breaststroke. Rich, meanwhile, was placed 15th in the breaststroke.

The 12/13-year-old boys' individual medley event saw Joe Sinclair placed 22nd overall and the girls' 12/13-year-old age group placed Rich fifth, Scott tenth and 12-year-old Foxall in 30th position.
