A WORCESTER schoolgirl has been declared a dancing champion after beating adults as well as dancers her own age in a dance competiton.
Demi Humphries, aged 11, not only won the under-12 champions section, but also beat all the other section winners, from all over the Midlands, in the Freestyle part of the Warwickshire Dance Championships in Stratford.
"Freestyle is a very fast style of dance that is similar to disco," said mum Claire.
"Demi has been dancing Freestyle for three years, but she has also done ballet, tap and modern."
Demi trains at the only Freestyle dance school in Worcester, Worcester Freestyle Dance, above the Worcester Swimming Pool in Sansome Walk.
"She practises there seven-hours a week," said Mrs Humphries.
As well as her success as a solo dancer Demi also won the doubles section and came third in the slow dance section at the competition on Sunday, June 23.
Demi, who goes to St Clement's CE Primary School in St John's, enters competitions all over region and adds this trophy to her already packed cabinet.
"When she won, her mouth just dropped - she didn't expect it," said Mrs Humphries of Woodstock Road in St John's. "I am over the moon for her."
