DRIVERS on a major Herefordshire road will be under the spotlight next month as part of a road traffic police initiative to reduce bad driver behaviour.
A team of road traffic police officers will be monitoring road users in an effort to reduce casualties on the A465 from Bromyard to Pontrilas.
Over the past 12 months, there have been 50 collisions on the road, resulting in one death, seven serious injuries and 72 slight injuries.
Marked and unmarked police cars will be used to target the major causes of collisions on this stretch of road.
They will also be checking the use of mobile phones while driving, and not wearing seatbelts.
"We know we have a problem both locally and nationally with drivers and passengers still not wearing seatbelts," said PC Paul Hobday from West Mercia Constabulary's traffic and operations department.
