THE Worcestershire Golf Club reached another milestone when its new clubhouse was officially opened on Saturday by the former captain of the Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup team, Peter McEvoy.
About 200 people were at the ceremony to usher in the new £1.25 million clubhouse, including the chairman of The English Golf Union, Phil Parker, Ladies Association (ELGA) president Sue Bennet and representatives from County Unions.
The Malvern Lynx Marching Band put on a 15 minute display at the ceremony.
Organiser and immediate past captain of the Worcestershire club, Terry Price, said: "It's a big milestone in the history of the club.
"I'm told it's the second new building we've opened - the first was on Malvern Common at the turn of the century."
The Worcestershire Club members used to play golf on the common before moving to their current Wood Farm base in 1926.
