WITH the hill climbing season now right up to speed, there's a busy time at Prescott this weekend (June 29 and 30) when the Bugatti Owners' Club hosts the Clark's TVR Midland Hill Climb Championship meeting.
Second only in importance to the British title, this prestigious series guarantees a full entry at Prescott, and the Avon/BMTR Top Ten Challenge competition ensures that the two run-offs (one at lunch time and one at the end of the day) will be keenly contested.
Tomorrow's (Saturday) practice session is even better value for spectators this time, for the plan is to give every driver three runs, and at this stage of the season it will be full throttle from the moment the flag drops.
This is round four of the Midland Championship and with the best seven scores out of nine events counting in the final reckoning, plus a bonus for breaking a record, it's a battle where every hundredth of a second, and every point, counts.
Early leaders are Dave Kimberley (Whitchurch), title holder Mark Butler (Llanymynech and Trevor Willis (Aylesbury) and all three will need to be on top form at Prescott.
The next Prescott meeting is the Vintage event on August 3 and 4.
Practice starts at 9.30am on Saturday with the competitive runs at 10am on Sunday, June 30. Adult admission is £6 on Saturday and £10 on Sunday. Children under 14 are admitted free and car parking is free.
