Vandalism rules! It would seem so in Ledbury, the temporary toilets have now been removed from Bye Street and Ledbury is faced with another summer of inadequate public toilets thanks in part to a mindless yob element and the lack of adequate policing that exists in Ledbury.
I cannot express my anger enough regarding how this situation has been protracted by Herefordshire councillors and officers, they have failed to listen to advice from all sectors of the local community regarding our new toilets and their intransigence has resulted in Ledbury losing out again.
Ledbury's shops and businesses are suffering from lack of visitor numbers and now coach firms are avoiding Ledbury because of the lack of suitable parking and other facilities.
Another summer without the promised new toilets will only aggravate a situation Herefordshire Council has initiated and drawn out through its own indifference and arrogance.
Our current crop of county councillors demonstrate a disconcerting lack of imagination, no new initiatives and a complete indifference to local issues.
At the council elections next May there may well be candidates standing who have a proven track record of listening to local people and who are not afraid to rock the boat at Hereford.
Martin Eager, Northmead, Ledbury.
