I WOULD like to tell other people about the interesting change in the eating habits of our household in recent months!

Every Thursday we now receive, delivered to the door by our local organic food shop Greenlink, a box of fruit, vegetables and salad fresh from market. The market is local too.

Because the contents of the box vary slightly from week to week, we have learned to tailor our weekly shopping list to plan meals around its variation.

It is very pleasurable to be back in touch with the food we are eating and to have a real sense of what is available in season from our local growers.

Eating this way is providing us with fruit and vegetables at the height of their nutritional value: the shorter the time between harvesting and eating, the greater the benefits to our health.

We are fortunate to have such a scheme in Malvern, and that Greenlink is still hanging on in there after the advent of Waitrose.

I do wish other people would experiment with this too; they would be both improving their health and supporting a local shop, and local producers.
