WE were fortunate on Wednesday, June 19, to be able to jump a queue a mile long! We were in the Malvern coach that took part in the largest ever lobby of MPs, calling for justice in world trade instead of the terms being loaded against the world's poor.
Our MP, Sir Michael Spicer, did us a favour - he had to chair a committee that afternoon and was unable to come out to meet us in the queue of 12,000, so we were given special preference to go ahead early!
Sir Michael gave us a good deal of time, and his full attention. We were glad he agreed that the present situation was highly unsatisfactory. He made us aware of the complexity of the issues, and we hope that on behalf of many supporters in Malvern we were able to help him realise the strength of popular desire to see unjust structures changed. It was a thrill to be part of such a peaceful mass demonstration.
EDWARD & ROSEMARY WILLIAMS, Penny Lane, Guarlford, Malvern.
