HUNDREDS of people in Malvern signed cards and petitions in protest against live animal exports at the weekend.
The response by members of the public was generated by human billboards in Church Street, in an event organised by Compassion in World Farming.
Volunteers walked up and down the street on Saturday (June 22), wearing billboards carry anti-live export messages. The cards and petitions signed will be delivered to Margaret Beckett, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
Organiser Joan Harries, from Worcester, said the day had gone very well.
"I think the billboards were excellent and hundreds of people signed cards," she said. "I was delighted. People came up to me and said 'this is fantastic, it really caught our eye'. They were queuing at one time because the impact was so great."
