WITH jibes at young people, blue humour and old-time songs, Tommy Mun-don and friends brought forth a cascade of titters from their Saturday night audience.

In Black Country Variety both 68-year-old host Tom-my and 81-year-old poet and journalist Harry Harr-ison gave topical comedy routines which, bar the thick accents, could have been understood the world over.

The importance of the Black Country in their routines was demonstrated not by the subject matter but by the type of people they are - brave, loud and generous.

Not inhibited by age, political correctness or national etiquette their confident brand of humour demonstrated honesty, observation and bundles of humility.

In between, singer Maggie O'Hara performed songs made famous by the likes of Glen Miller and Marlene Dietrich with a sweet, operatic voice that failed to fill the grittier moments.

All in all Bromyard enjoyed a laugh a minute in a show that obviously appealed to residents over 50. Ally Hardy
