THE Press is being held to account by a government built, elected and surviving by using Alistair Campbell's media tactics.

We see yet another revelation on the ever-growing mountains of disused fridges, a problem that was obvious even to the man in the street for the past 12 months.

Once more, without the facilities to do so, we are now facing yet another Euro-direction on scrap cars. Vehicles will have to be de-toxed by draining all oils (including brake oils) and fluids before crushing.

With little if any profit left in scrap, and the support given by this government to overseas steel manufacturers in return for donations, we will see a huge rise in abandoned cars.

BRIAN HUNT,

Worcester.

n ON Jubilee Day, I went to a party at Perdiswell for senior citizens. Many pensioners were present.

This was a lovely occasion. We had some very nice food and some marvellous varied entertainment.

There were some excellent dance groups, small girls and older girls - all very charming. We also had a group of jolly ladies doing belly dancing. There was much more besides.

Congratulations to all who helped, in any way.

D E MARGRETT, Worcester.
