MALVERN Cinema is now taking bookings for Minority Report, the latest Stephen Spielberg spectacular, which opens nationwide - and here in Malvern - on Thursday, July 4, at 7.30pm.
Starring Tom Cruise, the film is based on a story by Philip K Dick, the author whose writings provided the original inspiration for seminal science fiction movie Blade Runner and the Schwarze-negger blockbuster Total Recall.
Another one of Dick's stories, Impostor, was released as a film starring Gary Sinise earlier this month.
Dick, who died in the early 1980s, is one of the most influential of postwar science fiction writers, whose characteristic concerns include questioning the nature of reality and human identity, plus a certain paranoia.
Minority Report features Cruise as Detective John Anderton, a cop in a future world where crimes are detected before they are committed, thanks to 'Pre-Cog' mutants.
Until then, the cinema is showing Spider-Man (12) for a third week, with showings at 7.30pm daily and 3pm Saturdays and Sundays.
