SHAKESPEARE and classical music will be taking centre stage at Malvern College in the coming week and the public are invited along for free.
The school's annual Concerto Concert, at 7.30pm this Sunday (June 30) in Big School, includes nine extracts from the concerto repertoire ranging from Handel and Mozart to Bruch and John Rutter.
Iain Sloan, director of music, said: "At least two of the pupils playing will be going on to be professional musicians.
"Those performing range from a 13-year-old flautist to 6th formers who will be leaving in July. There will be a wide variety of soloists including violin, viola, cello, oboe, clarinet and a singer,
The school's 13-15-year-olds will be performing A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Rogers Theatre at 8pm on Wednesday, July 3, and Thursday, July 4.
"A donkey, a lion, some moonshine, runaway lovers, enchanted woods and roguish sprites are the ingredients for one of Shakespeare's most intriguing and entertaining comedies," said Nigel Turner, head of drama.
