FOUR men have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a lorry driver and theft of computer equipment in Worcester.
The terrified driver was stopped at gunpoint at Whittington by robbers posing as policemen, who then held for him for one-and-a-half-hours before dumping him on a motorway in Wiltshire.
The driver had picked up a consignment of computer equipment from Evesham Technology on the Vale Business Park on Friday, June 21, before heading to junction seven to join the M5.
But as he drove along the northbound slip road a grey Vauxhall Vectra switched on red and blue flashing lights, which the driver believed to be an unmarked police car.
Two men wearing fluorescent jackets jumped out of the Vauxhall and forced the man out of the lorry and bundled him into the boot of the car.
Kim Stain of Worcester police confirmed that four men had been arrested in connection with the offence and added that detectives had recovered a large percentage of the stolen computer equipment outside Worcestershire.
