Vice Captain Chris Smedley held his nerve and, with Mitchell Fowles making 21, four runs were required from Patel's last over.
And it was left to Ian Stowe who hit two off the final ball as Worcester tasted victory and claimed 20 vital points to Bromsgrove's six.
n Worcester's seconds completed the double over Bromsgrove by clinching a seven-wicket win.
Bromsgrove batted first and made 217-7 off their 50 overs with Mike Bennison top scoring with 87.
