THE friends and family of a grandmother who died last year are paying tribute to her with a sponsored walk next month.

Prudence Morris suffered from asthma from the age of 18 and was crippled by arthritis in her early 40s. She died last October at the age of 71.

Throughout her life she wanted to walk Offa's Dyke, a 177-mile route running from the bottom to the top of Wales and crossing the English border nine times.

Mrs Morris' grandson, Simon Alsbury, of Dines Green, came up with the idea of the walk. He wanted to pay tribute to her as well as raising money for other people who suffered from the same illnesses.

The money raised by the walk, which will take place between Thursday, August 8, and Tuesday, August 20, will be split equally between the Arthritis Research Campaign and the National Asthma Campaign.

Anyone who would like to sponsor the walkers should call Simon on 01905 424 629.
