A DROITWICH mum will be taking a leap of faith in a bid to beat the world record for skydiving.
Diane Mewey, who has flown only once during a holiday to Corfu, is getting fit for the jump by doing some kickboxing.
The mother-of-two, from Cant Hill, says it is a dream come true.
"I have always wanted to do a skydive," said Mrs Mewey who works in Hartlebury, making candles.
"I couldn't resist it when I saw the advert for the world record bid.
"Although, I haven't done anything like this before, I will be given training on the day and I will be attached to another skydiver.
The money raised by Mrs Mewey and the other skydivers during the event in August, which will be held at Oxford, will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Organiser Leonard Ansell is expecting more than 200 people to take part - the largest number ever to have jumped from a plane.
"I have done a number of charity skydives before but this will be very special as I am calling for people to help set an official world record," said Mr Ansell.
"It is a great way to raise money as often people are fulfilling a dream by leaping 10,000ft out of a plane! I am also hoping there will be a few well-known faces."
