A DRUNKEN Droitwich man made a hoax call to police and told them he had been stabbed in the leg with a needle.

Steven Moore made two hoax calls to police on March 15 this year, Worcester Magistrates Court was told yesterday.

Abi Nixon, prosecuting, told the court that during Moore's first call he claimed to have witnessed an indecent assault and caused an ambulance to be called to the scene.

"At 11.30pm, police were called to an address in Droitwich where a man claimed to have witnessed an indecent assault," she said.

"Another call was then received from Moore saying he had been stabbed by two men with a needle.

Drunk

"It was noted he was drunk, and he admitted he had made it up.

"He said he had done it to get attention because he was drunk and because he was having a hard time at home."

Moore, of Colford Close, admitted one charge of making a false telecom message.

Peter Jackson, defending, said the

22-year-old realised he had wasted the time of the emergency services.

"It is clear these calls would have caused inconvenience to officers, but Moore was extremely drunk and he has had the good sense to make a full admission to what he has done."

Magistrates fined the dairy worker £150, and ordered him to pay £50 court costs.
