AN RSPCA inspector from Evesham has received a top award for her commitment and service to animal welfare.
Inspector Jackie Hickman was one of three inspectors to receive the Anderson-Plumbe Award for special merit and ability at the RSPCA's annual meeting in London on Saturday.
Three RSPCA inspectors are chosen to receive the award each year.
Inspector Hickman, aged 31, joined the society in February 2000 and was posted to Wolverhampton before transferring to Evesham in January.
The former farrier has been praised for her dedication and commitment as well as her continuing role as the RSPCA's regional equine officer.
Inspector Hickman said it was a great honour to get this award from the society for doing a worthwhile job that she enjoyed.
"Every day as an RSPCA inspector is different, but everything I do goes towards animal welfare and the prevention of cruelty, which is why I joined the society," she said.
West Central regional superintendent Tom Austin said he was very proud that an inspector from this region had been chosen to receive the award.
"Inspectors work every day to improve the welfare of animals, and it is gratifying for them to have their hard work recognised," he said.
Inspector Hickman was presented with a certificate and £100 at the meeting.
