PEGASUS Juniors have appointed Owain Meale as first team manager, after Martin Thomas resigned at the end of last season due to business constraints.
Meale, formerly with Hereford city rivals Westfields as first team coach and also manager of their Herefordshire League team, will be helped by Joe Wright as player-assistant manager.
Meale joined the Army then played for B.A.T. in the Jewsons Wessex League. He returned to Hereford as manager of Tupsley winning the Burghill Cup, before joining Westfields two seasons ago. Meale, who gained his UEFA "B" coaching qualification whilst in the army relishes the challenge of managing Pegasus.
Wright who can play either in midfield or defence was an apprentice at Tottenham before injury kept him out of the game for two seasons.
He later had spells at Shrewsbury Town and Hereford United before spending 10 years in the Welsh League at Aberystwyth, Caersws and Newtown.
His experience will make him a useful member of the first team squad.
Director of Football, Mark Williams said: "Although Owain has not a great deal of managerial experience he is an excellent coach. Everybody has to start somewhere and we are pleased it is with Pegasus."
Meale has already appointed former player Phil Beavan as the Herefordshire Premier League manager whilst the experienced Mick Williams is taking charge of the Colts team, which replaces the U18 youth team that last season played in the Midland Counties Floodlight League.
Pre-season training for all teams commences on July 16 at Old School Lane, Hereford, at 6.30pm. Anyone interested in playing for the club is welcome to attend.
Pegasus Ladies Football Club have arranged a "taster evening" for July 10, starting at 7pm, and any girls over 14 or ladies are invited to attend. For further information call Dee Graham on 07770-220107.
The team play in the West Midland Premier Women's League and require a coach and/or manager to assist with training and team management. Contact Dee Graham if interested.
