CCTV cameras have been installed on buses in Redditch for the first time following talks to step up and improve security.
Urgent action was called for in February after a man was stabbed while travelling on the number 58 bus.
Talks took place between police chiefs, Redditch MP Jacqui Smith, county and borough councillors and First Midland Red to see how to improve security.
CCTV cameras on buses was one idea and, on Thursday, the first system was installed.
Steps to improve security on buses have been taken before, including police officers travelling on vehicles.
Worcestershire County Council has funded the project, set to be rolled out across the county at a cost of about £1 a day per bus.
