MORE fears are rife that opthalmology services at the Alexandra Hospital are being overlooked in favour of those in Kidderminster and Worcester after a consultant post was advertised for those sites.
Bromsgrove and Redditch Community Health Council was disturbed by the news after months of staunch campaigning for enhanced services at Redditch.
Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is reviewing county services at the moment so CHC members meeting last week were worried a post should be advertised in the middle of the process.
The Alexandra Hospital has one full-time eye consultant, Mr Bichitra Das and according to the CHC, inadequate facilities.
The trust said it was trying to find more cash to fund extra outpatient sessions at the Alexandra Hospital, though it was unknown when this would happen.
The Worcester and Kidderminster post was for a retina specialist to cover the south of the county and Mr Das had those skills to cover north Worcestershire.
