WORCESTER Rowing Club returned to the scene of their biggest triumph today when they began their Henley Royal Regatta campaign.
Two years ago the crew of Chris Chilton, Chris Farr, Jeremy Richardson and Peter Crozier lifted The Wyfold Challenge Cup and the same four compete in The Prince Philip Challenge Cup against Upper Thames. Another Worcester team - Ross Barnes, Jon Page, Phil Whitely and Gareth Hooper - are entered in the Wyfold event while a joint Hereford-Worcester crew go in the Women's Quadruple Sculls.
Royal Grammar School, Worcester, and King's go head to head in the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup while Evesham have two entries in the Fawley Challenge Cup. Stourport's Tim Dorrell is entered in The Silver Goblets & Nickalls' Challenge Cup.
Worcester's senior coach Peter Richardson believes the event will be a great experience for all. "Henley is the one that everyone wants to win - it is the ultimate prize as we know from our experience two years ago," he said.
