YOUNG gangs are intimidating users of a park in Rubery and a community leader has called for police patrols to be stepped up in the area.
Brook Road Recreation Ground has been a haunt for teenagers for many years, but Bromsgrove district councillor, Peter McDonald (Lab - Uffdown and Waseley), said the behaviour of some youths is becoming intolerable.
He said teenagers have been spotted greasing a bridge in woods between the Ray Avenue and Barrington Road access and watching people slip and even fall over.
"The kids go down there drinking and smoking and to a certain degree residents have tolerated the litter problems," Cllr McDonald told the Advertiser/Messenger.
"However this latest problem could be dangerous and already a child has fallen on oil which has been poured on the bridge and cut her hand. It can be intimidating for some residents and I have asked police to step up patrols in the park."
Sgt Kevin Lynott said: "We are aware of a number of incidents We do carry out patrols and confiscate alcohol from youngsters."
