AN action-packed two-day Bromsgrove Carnival programme, which entertained party revellers young and old at the weekend, has been hailed a success by event organisers.
The fine weather attracted hundreds of onlookers to the colourful procession, which alone raised £100 more for the Princess of Wales Hospital than last year.
Enthusiastic youngsters clung to Union flags as they watched the lively procession, led by Court Leet Bailiff, David Turner, and his wife Avery, from Finstall, celebrating their golden wedding anniversary this year, while others enjoyed the fair, penalty shoot-out and stalls in the park.
Carnival committee chairman, Jeff Evans said: "Considering all the celebrations over the past few weeks - including the Queen's Golden Jubilee, the World Cup and Wimbledon, we did exceptionally well, and beat last year's record of £2,141 from the procession." The total raised from this was £2,700.
He added: "The weather was outstanding and the doggy fun day and Bromsgrove District Council's old fashioned sports day went down a storm on the Sunday.
"We hope to hold a two-day event again next year."
