POLICE have this week reappealed for information after an elderly resident was left shaken and confused by thieves who broke into her Bromsgrove home.

The woman in her 70s fell prey to the thieves after they drove a vehicle into the front door of her Stratford Road home between 1.40pm and 2.40pm on Friday, June 21.

The glass door shattered and the offenders entered the property stealing a safe containing a quantity of jewellery, Roman coins and a set of keys.

The woman was not injured during the incident but was left confused and shaken.

Det Sgt Vince Hill said: "We are appealing for anyone in the jewellery or antiques trade who may have been approached to buy jewellery or Roman coins in suspicious circumstances to contact us.

"We would also appeal to any local garages who may have been asked to repair the back lights on a vehicle, again in suspicious circumstances, or if anyone saw a vehicle drive off at speed on the Stratford Road in Bromsgrove between 1.40pm and 2.40pm on Friday, June 21."

Forensic examinations have been carried out at the scene and enquiries into the burglary are continuing.

Anyone with information should call 01527 584888 or make an anonymous call to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
