A BROMSGROVE school is well on its way to achieving a silver environment award for its efforts to save the planet.
Pupils at Lickey Hills Primary School, in Old Birmingham Road, spent a day at Cofton Recycling Centre, off Groveley Lane.
They learnt about how the centre operates and will use the knowledge to help them produce a project, which will be used by judges considering award applications.
The youngsters also visited a council-run nursery off Lickey Road where they studied soil conditions and they took part in green activities.
The school has been given £200 from the Lickey Hills Society to help with the bid.
School governor and society member John Ashman said: "The children had a marvellous time."
