A CAMPAIGNING Bromsgrove mum is pressing the Government for more cash to help multiple birth families.
Margaret Blizzard, treasurer of the Bromsgrove Twins Club, is backing the bid made by the Twins and Multiple Births Association (TAMBA) to increase child benefit for families with twins, triplets or more.
Currently the first child receives just over £16 per week child benefit - all other children receive a third less.
But with multiple births only the first child is eligible for the higher rate and if the family already has a child each of the multiple birth children will only receive the lower rate of benefit.
Margaret, who has three-year-old twins, said: "The Government's policy towards multiples is inconsistent and unfair. The cost of having two or more children in the same pregnancy is proportionally more than two or more born separately over a number of years.
"Multiple birth families are therefore disadvantaged," said Margaret.
The campaign will also be focusing on pre-school childcare, which is much more expensive for twins, triplets or parents with even more children.
