TWO energetic parents are preparing for the UK's ultimate challenge to raise money for a village school.
Chris and Lynn Deeley, of Chequers Lane, will be taking on the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for Cutnall Green First School, in School Road.
The couple, who have two daughters at the school, will have to climb Scotland's Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, in the Lake District, and Snowdon in North Wales. The mountains have to be scaled within 24 hours to complete the challenge.
Sponsor forms have been circulated to their friends, family and the school in a bid to raise as much money as possible.
Cash raised will be put towards a planned quiet reading area for the youngsters.
The two walking enthusiasts have been training hard to prepare themselves for the event, which will take place on Saturday, July 13, and the following day.
Their daughters Kathryn, aged seven, and Laura, four, gave the their mum and dad a helping hand by climbing Snowdon with them in May.
Thirty-seven-year-old Chris said: "We are avid walkers anyway and do a lot of training over the weekend.
"We thought it would be a good opportunity for us to take on the challenge as well as raise as much money as we could for the school."
Rosemary Styles, the school's key stage two teacher and literacy co-ordinator, said: "We really can't thank Mr and Mrs Deeley enough for their generosity and kindness.
"We can't believe they have offered to give all of the money to the school, it will be a huge boost and will bring our reading area a step closer."
If you would like to sponsor the couple you can contact the school on 01299 851256.
