TWO posters designed by the firebugs responsible for causing £10,000 worth of damage to the Spa's Lido Park are being displayed in the town.

Both works of art, which warn against the dangers of playing with fire, were created by the youths who set the Lido's multi-play equipment alight in March.

They will be displayed in Wychavon District Council's One Stop Shop, in the High Street, to warn other youngsters of the damage that can be done.

The three children, who were caught and found guilty of causing the damage, had to create the posters as part of their referral order contracts, which were between five and eight months and issued by Worcester Youth Court.

Earlier this month, in a separate incident, vandals damaged the same piece of play equipment to the tune of £500.

Wychavon District Council has offered a £100 reward for information leading to the conviction of the culprits.

The council's client services manager, Sharon Casswell, said: "We refuse to let vandals get away with this anti-social behaviour. It costs the taxpayers money after all.

"We have decided to show these posters in the Droitwich One Stop Shop in a bid to deter youngsters from playing with fire.

"I hope it will also send the message that crime does not pay and the district council will not tolerate vandalism in any form."

She added: "We also want the public to play its part and report any vandalism to the police immediately."

The Mayor of Droitwich, town councillor Terry Spencer (Con - Droit Central) said: "I think it is a great idea. The posters will hopefully raise awareness and bring home the message of how dangerous it is to play with fire."

The posters are also being displayed at the district council's shops in Evesham and Pershore.
