AN Asian couple have been subjected to a string of racist attacks by teenagers as young as 12.

The Redditch couple have been spat upon, had sticks and stones thrown at them and endured verbal abuse in three separate incidents.

In one attack the man, in his 60s, was with his three grandchildren.

The police have condemned the youths' behaviour, vowing not to tolerate racist activities and warned of harsh penalties handed out to those who commit racist offences.

The attacks on the man and woman, in her 50s, happened as they walked along a footpath between Winyates Way and Ibstock Close, between 11.30-11.40am on June 8, 5-5.40pm on June 18 and 8-8.30pm on June 20.

The only description police have is that the youths are white, some aged about 12 or 13 and possibly wearing school uniform, and others aged about 17 or 18.

Pc John Bailey, of Redditch police, said: "These types of crimes are particularly nasty and cause considerable stress to the victims, making them feel extremely vulnerable when they go about their daily business.

"We will not tolerate racist behaviour and these incidents are being treated seriously.

"Anyone with information can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 anonymously and may receive a reward."
