A HOPWOOD family is celebrating 100 years of farming this week.

E T Jackson and Son, of Broadcroft Farm, Watery Lane, is run by David Jackson and his sons Ian and Mark.

The Jacksons' farming legacy began at the Hopwood farm in 1902 when Thomas and Martha Jackson arrived with their children Henry, Sarah and Thomas Ewart after spending two years at Studley Castle Farm.

Mr and Mrs Jackson moved to the area after farming in Denbydale, Yorkshire, and rented the farm, farming 112 acres with short horn cows.

In 1937 Cadbury's bought out many farms in the area and it became the Bournville Estate.

The Jacksons now farm 450 acres with dairy, beef and sheep and will be celebrating the landmark anniversary with a party on Friday.
