A REDDITCH Girl Guide has been chosen to carry the Commonwealth Games baton.
Susanne Harrison (pictured below), a member of the 2nd Matchborough Guides, will carry the baton - the Commonwealth Games equivalent of the Olympic torch - through Tewkesbury on the way to the opening ceremony in Manchester this month.
Susanne was selected after taking part in a Blue Peter competition in which she had to name the countries in the Commonwealth and knew the answers because of her involvement in Girlguiding's recent Global Connections event.
Girlguiding UK was formerly known as The Guide Association.
Meanwhile, Studley runner Caroline Ford had the prestigious honour of carrying the baton at the weekend.
Mrs Ford, of Badbury Gardens, was one of 5,000 people chosen to ferry the baton to Manchester because of her services to the community in Studley where she is a Brownie leader.
She was cheered on through the streets of Derby on Sunday where the baton was on its 25th day of travel.
