LAST Wednesday evening, Bretforton's players enjoyed a friendly warm-up game among themselves.
Playing 12-a-side, there were goals from each team by Sue Harper, Jane Wheeler, Lisa Workman and Deb Slatter in a game that ended 4-4.
On Saturday evening, the annual awards were presented by hockey sponsor Stuart Bailey of Fairview Trading, Honey-bourne.
For the first team, Gilly Wright was named Most Improved Player while the Player of the Year was Jane Wheeler. Wright and Sophie Corbett were joint top scorers.
For the second team, up and coming junior Amy Trotman was voted Most Improved Player.
A new trophy in memory of Val Harrison was presented by daughter Lesley for Players' Player of the Year and top scorer Tracy Hodgkins was a delighted recipient.
Clubman of the year was Marcus Jordan for his continual support with both teams and training.
The newly formed second team won Division Three of the Severn League, while the first team finished equal fourth in their first season in the Northern Division.
There's Summer League action at Evesham High School tonight when Stratford play Evesham at 7pm and Bretforton Extras face Droitwich at 8.30pm.
Fixtures for Tuesday, July 9: Stratford v Blockley Ladies (7), Droitwich v Bretfor-ton (8.30).
