AN RSPCA inspector from Evesham has received one of the society's top awards for her commitment and service to animal welfare.
Inspector Jackie Hickman was one of three inspectors to receive the Anderson-Plumbe Award for special merit and ability at the RSPCA's annual meeting in London last Saturday (June 29).
The Anderson-Plumbe Award is made to three RSPCA inspectors annually to recognise their work and commitment to the RSPCA and animal welfare.
Inspector Hickman, aged 31, joined the RSPCA in February 2000 and was posted to Wolverhampton before transferring to Evesham in January. The former farrier has been praised for her dedication and commitment as well as her continuing role as the RSPCA's regional equine officer.
She said: "I think it's a great honour to get this award from the society for doing a worthwhile job that I enjoy. Every day as an RSPCA inspector is different but everything I do goes towards promoting animal welfare and the prevention of cruelty, which is why I joined the society."
West Central regional superintendent, Tom Austin, said: "I am very proud that an inspector from this region was chosen to receive this prestigious award. Inspectors work every day to improve the welfare of animals and it is gratifying for them to have their work recognised."
Inspector Hickman was presented with a certificate to mark her award and £100.
