NICK Collins chose the halfway stage of the Worcestershire League second division campaign to post his highest ever score in Evesham colours as the Avon Street side moved 19 points clear at the summit.
The former Halesowen batsman, who returned to the club at the start of the summer, showed all his qualities much to the delight of his father, Mike, a former club captain.
Collins struck 114 after the hosts had been asked to take first knock on probably the best wicket of the season.
However, Ian Prince was quickly back in the pavilion at the start of a match sponsored by Mr and Mrs L Selby, but Collins and Gary Lewis added 85 to lay the platform for a big score again closest challengers Eastnor.
Shahid, voted the section's top bowler last year, didn't have much success and was removed from the attack while the runs piled up with Paul Jones smashing 47 in rapid time as Evesham closed on 258-6 with Collins undefeated.
The target was always going to prove too much for the visitors especially as Prince struck in the opening over after tea.
Spinner Quinn Jones picked up five more wickets to take his tally to 39 while 15-year-old Will Lloyd was unlucky not to pick up a wicket as Eastnor totalled 202-8.
The club's second string won for the first time this season when Will Bailey smashed a 6 over long-on at Eastnor.
The home side rattled up a challenging 256 with David Higginson (4-44) the pick of the bowling attack and it was the Eastnor bowlers' turn to suffer next as bailey became the team's third centurion of the summer.
He blasted the home attack to all parts of the ground, finishing undefeated on 132 capping a fine knock with the winning hit.
