JEREMY Robinson's late call-up to the Murphy's Irish Open brought the Evesham golfer a welcome cheque for £3,000.
The European Tour player finished one-under for the Fota Island event but was left to regret three consecutive bogeys on the back nine last Sunday.
"Four-under would have made a considerable difference," Robinson lamented. "I never really got going throughout. Conditions were ideal on Saturday morning and my round should have been a lot better."
Scoring was low over the four days and rounds of 70 and 71 saw Robinson narrowly make the cut at the par 71 course.
A brace of birdies on the back nine the next afternoon secured a second score of 70 to leave the Evesham player well placed to hoist himself up the leader board the next day but an early dropped shot was a blow.
However, a birdie two holes later brought Robinson back to two-under and he picked up another shot at the short seventh to move to three-under with 11 holes still to play.
Seven holes of par golf promised a top 30 finish but three dropped shots at 15, 16 and 17 saw Robinson plummet back to level par.
He did finish on a high note with a birdie four at the last to complete four excellent rounds and leave him in confident mood ahead of Open qualifying at Gullane on Sunday and Monday, July 14 and 15.
Robinson was paired with Irish winner, Soren Hansen on the first two days in Cork and felt he was a likely winner.
"He played well, especially on Friday but did the damage the next day," the Evesham man recalled about the Dane's early success on his way to a four-way play-off triumph.
