THE Pershore Golf Society didn't have to travel far to contest Captain's Day.
The delightful setting of Tew-kesbury Park was in good condition and, with the prospect of fine weather, captain Neil Sheppard gave a warm welcome to members and guests.
The morning nine-hole warm- up played in perfect conditions was a Restricted Club, Team Texas Scramble won on count- back by Lee Juliff, Ken Morris and Roger Knight.
The afternoon round for the Captain's Trophy was played as a Medal strokeplay, keenly contested by the entire field. From the pack emerged the eventual trio of Scott Goldsmith in third place, Vic Hammond in second place and Captain's Day champion for 2002 was Roy Amphlett.
Other winners - Best Guest: Ken Morris. Par three gross: Mark Shale. Best gross: Lee Juliff. Longest drive: Keith Taylor. Nearest the flag in three: Dave Brierley. Nearest the flag in two: Rob Davies. Nearest the flag in one: Neville Green.
