As the Fladbury Parish Councillor who proposed the vote of no confidence in Councillor Eyre which you reported last week, perhaps you would allow me to clarify some points which may not have been clear from the comments you printed.
Mrs Eyre was very well aware that the unanimous view of Fladbury Parish Council was that closure to local traffic would be against the interests of the residents of Fladbury who she was elected to represent.
Particular concern was expressed over the possible effect on the village school and loss of local amenities. She agreed that none of the other ten villages in her division had expressed any contrary view and yet failed to give any satisfactory reasons for voting for closure.
Whatever the effect of the Council " looking very seriously " at the points she raised over bus and emergency access, none of us felt that these in any way answered our concerns and she has still not explained why ,even if she was satisfied with what she was told in answer to the concerns voiced, she then decided to vote for closure - something there was no clear majority for , even in Wyre itself.
None of the Parish Councillors present were convinced by her response and none voted in her favour to express their confidence in her.Democracy even at this local level requires elected representatives to represent the views of their electors when decisions are made. Councillor Eyre failed to do this and the electors of Fladbury and elsewhere in her division will expect better representation from her in future if she wishes to be re-elected.
