A NEW exhibition of photographs and embroidered photographic images is on display at Malvern Hills Arts and Crafts Gallery on Worcester Road.
The Hills are More exhibition features new work based on the Malvern Hills by the gallery manager and embroiderer, Diana Sanderson. It continues until the end of the month.
Ms Sanderson said: "After the fire on the hills earlier this year, I've been taking photographs of the new plant life coming through and other unusual views along the hills.
"I've always done close-up photography but never shown the work before. I find it fascinating. The photographs are machined on to a fabric mount and the embroideries are photocopies of photos onto fabric and machine embroidered on top of that."
Powick-based Ms Sanderson also teaches recreational embroidery at Malvern Hills College, putting a lifetime's experiences of needlework into helping others with their tapestry and embroidery work.
She is also studying for a City and Guilds embroidery course at the college, which is where she discovered the technique of photocopying onto fabric through experimentation.
Visitors are welcome to find out more about day and evening courses in the Albert Road North college for next term (beginning in September), during open day exhibitions on Saturday and Sunday (July 6 and 7).
