WORCESTER Nomads earned some much needed WCL Division Two points with this hard-earned draw at home to Brockhampton.
WORCESTER NOMADS v BROCKHAMPTON
The visitors posted 267, largely thanks to Parker with 107 and Walker with 78, sharing a second-wicket stand of 157. With the score on 210-1, Nomads could have expected to be chasing a larger total, but Ian Jinks returned to wicket-taking form and ripped through the middle order, taking 6-74, ably supported by young Ollie Griffiths and also Adey Wooler.
In reply Nomads struggled again, but weren't helped by an injury to Chris Marsh which forced him to drop down the order.
No-one really looked like building an innings until Marsh (34no) and Jinks (18) came together, sharing in a stand of 56 for the 8th wicket. Marsh and Whitby then hung on to complete the draw.
BROCKHAMPTON II v WORCESTER NOMADS II
WORCESTER Nomads Seconds continued their run of good form over recent weeks with a relatively comfortable win over Brockhampton.
The home side elected to bat first, and struggled to make much headway early on. Skipper Anton Madzarevic was particularly impressive, bowling his best spell of the season so far, and was well rewarded for his efforts.
Gatting noticeable movement both off the pitch and through the air, his 3-34 set the standard for the afternoon.
Carter and Hope were the only two batsmen who looked capable of setting a decent target, and Lee Wilks was able to remove both in another good spell of tight and accurate bowling, also well rewarded, in a haul of 5-53. Nomads dismissed Brockhampton for 178 in only the 46th over.
The home side tried to utilise the bounce and lift off the pitch to get them back in the game, but some of the bowling was not accurate enough. Bland was especially severe on anything outside the off stump, as he crashed his way to an excellent 63.
Lee Wilks and Dave Pearson seemed to have matters well under control, but when both fell to lofted shots off off-spinner Lawson the nerves jangled a little. Lisle, G Kelly and J Kelly all succeeded in getting themselves out, before Steve Wilks and Glen Collins guided the visitors home with 4 wickets and 6 overs to spare.
WORCESTER NOMADS III v BARNARDS GREEN III
BARNARDS Green Thirds withstood a determined effort by Nomads 3rds to reach a victory target of 187 with one over left and two wickets remaining.
Nomads put on 111 for their first wicket with Isaacs making 59 and Ian Brown 44. However, the Green bowlers steadily applied the brakes and despite a stylish 33 from Anthony Massey and a positive 15 from Geoff Taylor on his debut they restricted Nomads to an under par 186.
After the early loss of skipper Jones, Dyment (23) and Tyler (34) batted well and then Middleton (54) and Rogers (45) carried on to lay the foundations for a Green win, with Middleton in particularly authoritative form.
A late flurry of wickets cast some doubt on the outcome, but in an excellent game Green edged home. Anthony Massey took 3-22 and Nigel Rees 2-48.
