HAVING lost the toss West Malvern took to the field.
With the first ball Bob Blackbourn dismissed B Rendell, bowling well throughout his eight over spell he returned figures of 1-19 only to be outshone by his son Mathew with 1-12.
WEST MALVERN v WOODPECKERS
Despite a fiery spell by Peter O'Connell, supported by Joe Little, a dogged batting performance by C Shaw enabled Woodpeckers to reach the score of 131-7 off the allotted 40 overs.
After another wonderful tea West Malvern set about the task of overhauling the score with Brian Pleass plundering another 50 before a triple wicket maiden by N Davis slowed down the West charge.
A fine 42 by Cooper helped the West reach the necessary score with 16 overs to spare.
