ONE can understand Ian Green's delight at the success of the Big Bike show held at the Three Counties Showground on June 22 and 23 (Malvern Gazette, June 30).
But has he or any of the other organisers given consideration to local communities when they talk of planning even larger events of the same sort next year?
When it comes to planning permissions the Showground is officially defined as "an area to be used only for events connected to the promotion and improvements in agriculture, horticulture and livestock breeding - and also such activities that can be carried out without detriment to the amenity of the neighbourhood."
Are Big Bike rallies, three-day Volkswagen fests, three-day auto-sleeper owners' club rallies, motor home shows and the like, justified within these clearly stated parameters?
