THE Malvern Priory Organ Appeal is hosting a Weekend of Music on July 12-14, supported by William Boughton and the English Symphony Orchestra.
The weekend starts on Friday, July 12, at 7.30pm, with an evening of chamber music featuring works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Prt.
The music will be performed by Bravura, a recently-formed ensemble of leading local, young, talented musicians brought together under the direction of Janet Masters.
On Saturday, July 13, at 7pm, there will be a performance of Handel's ever-popular Messiah, conducted by William Boughton.
The performance will be given by musicians following and afternoon rehearsal. The choir of about 80 singers and orchestra include participants from as far away as London and Peterborough.
The soloists are all local singers: Maria Masters (soprano), Josephine Williamson (alto), Patrick Briddon (tenor) and Peter Raynes (bass).
On Sunday, July 14, at 2.30pm, there will be a Youth Makes Music Day concert by the ESO Children's and Intermediate Orchestras.
These talented young musicians from the Malvern and Worcester area will perform an interesting and varied concert conducted by William Boughton.
Tickets are available from the Malvern Priory office on 01684 561020, or at the door. There is no entrance charge at the Sunday concert, but there will be a retiring collection.
Appeal organiser Mike Selby said they were still looking for more singers for the Messiah. He said: "We aren't expecting professional singers but people who would like to have an enjoyable day and sing this wonderful work by Handel. We can accept people in all four parts."
If you are interested, please contact Mr Selby on 01684 564953, or come along on the day for the rehearsal, from 1.30pm to 5pm.
