Of late, improvements have been effected in the Promenade Gardens which cannot fail to escape the attention of those who are accustomed to visit them. A wooden railing of a rustic appearance, and quite in keeping with its surroundings, has been erected at the east side, and a new gate now stands in front of the little thatched ticket office. Malvern Gazette, July 4, 1902.
The haymaking is in full swing and throughout the Ledbury district there is an exceptionally good crop. Clover was a particularly heavy crop, in fact, the best known for years. The wheat is in ear and is looking uncommonly well; the same may be said of barley. The crops of peas and beans, it is expected, will beat all records, although the frost played havoc with the early peas. Ledbury Free Press, July 8, 1902.

"In view of the trends of modern life, when there is so much extremely harmful drinking on the part of young people, and so many accidents on the highway, the work of the National British Women's Total Abstinence Union gains especial significance," declared the Vicar of Malvern, the Rev R B Lunt. Malvern Gazette, July 4, 1952.
A party of Welsh engineers from Swansea descended on Ledbury last Saturday, and among their activities included an hour on the Crescent bowling green. Not being a Welshman, I failed to grasp some of their talk, but obviously they enjoyed the opportunity of a game on this well-kept and pleasant ground. Ledbury Reporter, July 11, 1952.

Two dogs which worried sheep on Poolbrook Common were caught by the police and impounded because one had no collar and the other was minus the owner's identity disc. Both dogs were later claimed and, at Malvern Magistrates' Court, the owners were each fined £15 for allowing the dogs to worry sheep and ordered to keep them under control. Malvern Gazette, July 7, 1977.
There is fresh hope that traffic congestion in Ledbury will be eased at a fairly early stage. The county council has conceded that the town urgently requires relief from heavy traffic. The important victory along the rocky road towards an outer bypass was won by the local county councillor Frank Cooney. Ledbury Reporter, July 7, 1977.
