MATHON, Cradley & Storridge Tennis Club (MCS) Men's B team travelled to play local rivals Ledbury A Tennis Club and came away from Ledbury's Gloucester Road courts with a 3-1 victory.
The Ledbury pair of Patrick Brazil & Jeff Johnson started the match strongly and won the opening rubber 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 against the MCS pair of Paul Grubb & Phil Toghill.
Phil & Paul won the second rubber 6-4, 6-4. Chris Brandon-White & Duncan Hannaford of MCS were in good form playing consistent ground strokes to win a competitive rubber 7-5, 6-2 against David Rushton & Bob Mitchell who also played some fine tennis. Chris & Duncan secured the match victory for MCS winning the final rubber against Patrick & Jeff 6-3, 6-0.
The MCS Ladies A team strengthened their position at the top of Division Four West with a convincing 4-0 victory away at Presteigne Tennis Club.
The MCS pairs of Sonia Sanderson & Janet Brown and Carol Dandy & Janet Facer all won their rubbers comfortably to contribute in this one-sided match.
