LARGE crowds thrilled to the sight of cars from yesteryear at Shelsley Walsh's annual vintage hillclimb.
Over 120 cars, some almost as old as the hill itself, competed on Saturday in a meeting organised jointly by the Vintage Sports Car Club and the Midland Automobile Club.
A dazzling array of cars such as Frazer Nashes, Bugattis, Rileys, ERAs, Bentleys and Austin Sevens were joined by a series of Shelsley Specials, which competed on the hill in its early days.
The oldest car on show was a 1910 Wolseley Wolsit in the hands of driver David Cook -- and indeed all but five of the cars on display dated from before the Second World War.
Fastest time of the day went to Mac Hulbert's ERA, which clocked 34.48 seconds in the 1501-3000cc class.
It was a busy weekend at Shelsley, with a National 'B' hillclimb for cars and motorcycles held at the Teme Valley venue yesterday.
